For admission to the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Civil and Environmental Engineering, candidates must hold a secondary school diploma of at least five years’ duration, or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad and recognized by the competent authorities. Applicants are expected to demonstrate an adequate initial preparation in fundamental subjects, particularly Mathematics and Physics, as well as Logic and Verbal Comprehension.
These competencies are assessed through an entrance test administered nationally by CISIA, either in person or online. Students who demonstrate deficiencies in the scientific or linguistic competencies required for admission are assigned Additional Educational Obligations (OFA), which must be fulfilled within the first year of the programme. Further information is available in the section: “Entrance Test”.
Admission to the programme also requires an adequate level of English proficiency, verified either through the presentation of a recognized B2 level certification (Intermediate Level, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) or by passing an internal assessment test.
The following basic knowledge is recommended, although not strictly required for admission:
Mathematics
Algebraic operations, equations and inequalities, elementary functions, and basic trigonometry. Introductory concepts of analytic geometry and mathematical reasoning. These competencies are essential for the quantitative analysis and modelling required in engineering studies.
Physics (Mechanics)
Scalar and vector quantities. Measurement systems and physical units. Fundamental physical quantities such as displacement, velocity, acceleration, mass, and force. Basic understanding of Newton’s laws of motion and equilibrium conditions.
Logic and Verbal Comprehension
Ability to understand and interpret written texts, identify logical relationships, and develop coherent reasoning. These skills are essential for problem solving and for the comprehension of scientific and technical material.
Technical Representation and Spatial Reasoning
Basic geometric concepts and spatial visualization skills. Ability to interpret simple graphical representations and technical drawings.
Computer Skills
Basic computer literacy consistent with internationally recognized standards (such as ECDL Base). This includes document management, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and effective use of Internet and email tools.
Please, check the Admission Requirements in the program webpage and, if they are satisfied, follow the steps below.
A preliminary assessment of the applicant's preparation is required. If you hold an Italian high school diploma, then go to step 2: the preliminary evaluation will be conducted at a later stage, during the enrollment phase. If, instead, you do not hold an Italian high school diploma, then create a new account/login to the Student Portal GOMP and submit your application through the "Pre-admission International Students" Section. The following documents must be provided:
high school transcript;
curriculum vitae;
motivation letter;
certificate of proficiency in English;
current (valid) passport or identity card.
Please note that although we accept a declaration stating that your previous degree was obtained from an institution where English was the medium of instruction as sufficient proof of English proficiency, please note that Italian Embassies typically require a valid B2-level English language certificate (such as IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, or an equivalent) in order to issue a visa.
Therefore, if you receive a pre-admission offer, we strongly recommend that you obtain a valid English certificate before submitting your documents to the Italian Consulate/Embassy for your visa application.
After uploading the documents, you will be invited to pay a 15€ fee to complete the application. Early application is strongly encouraged in view of the required paperwork. You will be notified by email about the outcome of the application.
If you have been pre-admitted, or if you hold an Italian high school diploma, check if you need a Student VISA. If you do not need it, then go to step 3. Otherwise, fill in the "pre-enrolment application" at UniversItaly (the official web portal of the Italian Ministry of University and Research for international students); detailed information on the procedure is available here. Be aware that the application for the forthcoming academic year will be available only as of the end of March: do not apply for the wrong academic year.
If your VISA has been granted, or if you do not require a VISA, come to UNICAS and proceed with the enrollment.
Detailed information for steps 2 and 3 is available here and will be sent to pre-admitted candidates.
